ROBOCROC (MANUAL)

::
THEME

                     AS THE INROADS OF CIVILISATION CONTINUE TO LIMIT THEIR NATURAL
     HABITAT , A SITUATION HAS COME WHERE THE CLASS CROCODILIA IS ON
    THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION . BUT TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT
    EMPOWERS YOU TO RECREATE THE ENDANGERED SPECIES .THIS WOULD
    GIVE BIRTH TO A NEW SPECIES CALLED ROBOCROC.

 MISSION
                      Technology has bestowed upon you the power of creation . Your mission is to use your
     creative instincts and technical skills to build a robot that can relive the endangered
     crocodile species by moving on land as well as water . Take care it should adapt well to
     the given habitat .

THE ARENA

 O B J E C T I V E S :

OBJECTIVE 1 :-> PROVING GROUNDS

        This part will test the control of your robot to move on land . In this stage the robot has
    to move in a zig-zag fashion.

       Here the four flags are situated at distance of 40 cm from each other . The robot has to
   cross them in zig zag fashion to score 25 points for each flag . If the robot moves straight
   it does not add points to its credit.

   OBJECTIVE 2 :->THE SATUR 9 STREET

   Here the robot has to move over an undulating area consisting of humps.

          Here the robot has to cross four humps of 1.5 cm height and a base width of 4 cm each. The
   distance between two consecutive humps is 3 cm. If the robot crosses the humps without
    touching the boundary then it gains more points .

OBJECTIVE 3:-> THE TROUBLED WATERS

        This is the most important and difficult objective . In this stage the robot has to
   manoeuvre through a pool of water transporting a block of thermocol into a pit ,thereby
   completing the track and moving forward to cross the other pool.

        Here the robot has to swim through a pool of 90 cm width and carry a block of 16 cm width
   along with it and place it in the pit thereby completing the path . Then it has to cross another
   pool of width 90 cm and go to the next track.

::
CROSS SECTION VIEW OF POOL

   The depth of water is 30 cm at its maximum. It starts after a distance of 5 cm across the
    slope. The slope is about 6degrees and is same on both sides of pool.

::
THE GAME FIELD
   The total game field would be of rectangle shape of size 3mt x 2mt.,. The floor of the field is
   made up of ply . A wooden fence surrounds the game field.

::
MACHINES
Each team must design and construct handmade machine to compete in the contest.
ONLY ONE Machine is allowed for each team.
The Machine has to be operated via remote control using a cable connected to it or
    remote control using infrared rays, visible rays or sound waves. Radio wave remote
    controls are also allowed.

Operators are not allowed to ride on the machine.
The length of the cable from the Machine to the control box must be more than 5
    meters.

Team members are not allowed to touch the Machine once the game begins . This can
    be done only by taking a timeout.

::
METHOD OF CONTROL
Only one operator for each team is allowed to control the Machine.
One team member can hold the connecting wire.

::
POWER SUPPLY
Each team shall prepare its own power supply.
Only D.C. drives should be used.
Direct A.C. supply will be given for all the teams.

::
SIZE
The size of the base of the robot must be within 200mm x 200mm x 200mm before the
    game begins (if there is an arm for carrying the thermocol its length will be excluded
    while calculating the length).
 Once the Manual Machine leaves the Start Zone after the game begins, its size can be
    changed freely.

::
SCORING PATTERN
Points are calculated when the match ends.
 25 points will be awarded for crossing each flag in a zigzag manner .
 100 points will be awarded for crossing the humps without touching the boundary wall.
    If the robot touches the wall while crossing the humps ,then only 50 points will be
    awarded .
 50 points will awarded for moving across the pool and 50 more points will be awarded
    for getting onto land from water .
 50 points will be awarded for carrying the block to land and 50 more points wil be
   awarded for placing it rightly in the pit.
 The total points that can be scored in one complete round 600(4x25 + 100+
   50+50+50+50+50+50+100)

::
RULES
three time outs are allowed in between the game, each of 1 minute.
 Radio waves can be used for controlling the robots(we are not responsible for any RF
     interference).
 Each team consists of four members at the maximum.
 Lego kits are not allowed. parts of toys like motors,gearbox,wheels,can be used but
    direct toy car base is not allowed.
 The duration of each game will be FIVE which may change .
 Rules may change .

::
PENALTIES
   Violation of any of the above rule and damaging the game field, or any object on the game field
   in any way, will be regarded as violation and thus points will be deducted for each violation .

If some damage is brought to the arena (like pushing a flag) 15 points will be fined

.
