Third Alumni Meet - 2004 (West Coast USA) 3rd West Coast USA Alumni Meet Saturday, 25th Sep 2004 Sunnyvale, California It was a beautiful Sunny Saturday Morning. The West Coast CET Alumni were having butterflies in their stomach to meet each other at "Synergy 2 conqure"-2004. The get together was planned at an Indian Restaurant, "Bombay Feast", in the midstof a calm and beautiful Neighborhood of Sunnyvale, the Silicon Valley. People started coming in one by one. While we waited for all to show up, could not help us plunging into the golden memories of those good old college days.... I mean the as usual College "KHATTI" started in front of the restaurant itself. It all seemed like we used to gossip outside the CAET gallery leaving the thermodynamics class aside. People trickled in Indian stretchable time and we then went inside the restaurant, which was quite spacious for all of us. Believe me, the whole CET alumni could fit into this huge extravagant restaurant.. it has got dance floor, bar and what not. The discussion was so involved that no one even realized the time on the clock. It was then 1 PM, we ordered the starters. Starving individuals amongst us took short cuts and ordered entrées straight away. To maintain the decorum, juices and colas were ordered as drinks. Then upon request, NP Gantayat(1992) went through the "Welcome Kit for the Alumni Meet"amidst comments, feedback from the participants. I will send a follow-up email with the minutes and discussion items very soon. It all started with the introduction round where alumni described their life after graduating from CetB, their hobbies, extracurricular activities and current status. Then came the food and all seemed to be silent all of a sudden for the obvious reason. Frankly speaking the food was bellow expectation, but who cares? All we wanted was a nice quiet and calm place to sit and gossip. After lunch we had got a photo session outside. Then the kids forced the family guys to say good-bye to the get together. But the bachelors and the forced-bachelors were still not done and headed towards Half-Moon Bay. As the name indicates it's really beautiful and scenic, a long drive on CA 1-North to the beautiful downtown of SFO (San Francisco). Had a nice time there on the streets of Broadway, Lumbard, Market st, Mission st etc and after getting exhausted with the downtown traffic and signals headedtowards the serenity of the "Treasure Island"- a small island in the bay from where the combined view of Golden Gate, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz and the downtown during sunset with birds around and huge honking ships going towards Oakland is amazing.... beyond my words. As it was so cold out there, we could not stand for a long time and called it a day with a fun-filled day behind heading towards our nest. On behalf of the International Alumni Association CetB, I would like to thank the participants who could make it to the event despite their hectic corporate lives. Those who could not make it this time, we missed you ...... C U all in 2005. We are looking forward to your constant participation in alumni events and pleaseprovide us your comments and suggestions to organize the events better and make our organization stronger. Cheers, Sanjeeb Kumar Patel (1996) Secretary, West Coast Chapter -USA |
