The sequence of events were as below:
1. Welcome: The meeting was convened by Mr. Ajit Kumar Sahoo (Batch of 2000, I&E) and the inaugural welcome address was given by Mr.
Suraj Das (Batch of 1996, MCA). The agenda was put forth and Introduction session was initiated.
2. Introduction Session: Each of the 26 CETians gave a brief introduction about themselves and their experiences during their stay in
CET. 3. Discussion on up-gradation of CETB to IIT: Brainstorming session was carried out in order to support up gradation of CET, Bhubaneswar
to the status of an IIT. Broad consensus was reached in preparing a draft by synergizing the ideas gathered from the highly
re-juvenated alumni. The following points came up in the above said discussion.

a. Communication & Infra-structure: Bhubaneswar is a city, which is well connected to every other part of the country. All important
trains run via Bhubaneswar. We also have an International Airport coming up in Bhubaneswar too. Bhubaneswar being the political and
Bureaucratic headquarters has added advantage of easy accessibility for administrative issues. Presence of Good Hospitals, proximity to
SCB Medical College and Hospital, and proposed location for AIIMS will provide the best possible healthcare infrastructure support
to the academicians and their family and students. Abundant supply of water and surplus of power will cater to the needs for maintaining a world-class campus infrastructure and laboratories.
b. Research Facilities: Presence of premier institutes providing technical research like Indian Institute of Physics, Indian
Institute
of Plastic Tech, Central Tool Room and Training Centre, Regional Research Laboratory, Utkal University, Orissa
University
of Agriculture and Technology, and management research supported by XIMB will go a long way in maintaining the
credibility
of academics and research of the institute. Inclusion of the existing Institutes like College Of Agricultural
Engineering
and Technology and Department of Bio-technology (Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology) as separate branches of study will
provide the leverage for broadening research areas of the institute supplementing the needs of agricultural sector.
c. Industry Support: Proximity to Industrial organizations like National Aluminium Company, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Nilachal
Ispat Nigam Ltd, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, Oswal chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd, National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd, Port Trust of
India and presence of IT giants like Infosys, Satyam, Tata Consultancy Services and Enterprise Software Solutions will contribute in
a
major way in providing the much needed technical and industrial exposure to the institute apart from providing training, recruitment and
research projects for the development of the talented students. Presence of IIT in Bhubaneswar will also attract investors to this
region, which will go a long way in the development of this region.

d. Conducive Social, Educational and Cultural Atmosphere: Bhubaneswar has a good law and order and secured social environment. Presence
of good social systems, schools, colleges and universities with high level of education will be of great help to the academicians and
their family. The climatic condition in Bhubaneswar is moderate and the cost of living is low, which would attract both talented
students
and academicians. This has been proved in the recent past by the flourishing of new engineering colleges and the cream of students
preferring to come down and study in this part of the country. Bhubaneswar being a temple city and closely knit with tourist attractions
like Puri, Konark and Chilka will provide the much-needed attractions to the corporate and visiting academicians.
4. Signature Campaign: In support of the cause of up gradation of CETB to IIT, signature of the 26 CETians, present in the get-together,
were taken. 5. Lunch: All the people had their sumptuous lunch and interacted with each other sharing their experiences at CETB.
6. Games / Entertainment: We had a post-lunch Oriya Padyantika (Oriya Antakshri) round wherein people participated enthusiastically.
