ABOUT US

          The Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology (a constituent college of BPUT) is the oldest and the largest Civil Engineering Department under the State Technical University (BPUT) . It was established on 1981. The department has in the past produced several eminent engineers who have made notable contributions in the planning and execution of Civil Engineering projects in most part of India and abroad.

The department offers a four year course leading to the Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Although the department has prided itself on the quality of its undergraduate programmes, the department also realized quite early the importance of keeping pace with the latest development in engineering education. Thus at present the department offers two year courses in Master's Degree .

The research programmes of the department are funded by various agencies such as UGC, CSIR, ACC, ULTRATECH, INSDAG, MHRD, AICTE, etc. Research fellows working on these programmes are allowed to register for the M.Tech provided they fulfill the qualifications set for them. Teachers of other engineering colleges also carry out research at the department, leading to M.Tech Degree . The department offers M.Tech programmes in Structural Engineering.

The faculty of the department has always remained in the forefront by exploring new areas and providing guidance in frontal areas. Recognizing the excellent work carried out by the faculty, UGC, MHRD and AICTE provided assistance to the department in specialized areas .

The faculty of the department continues to strive loftier by exploring new frontiers of knowledge, providing the latest technical knowledge to the students and rendering technical advice on live engineering problems.
